The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) has a rich history of organizing workers and defending their rights. Dating back to the late 1800’s, we started as The Brotherhood of Painters and Decorators of America. Our reach and scope have grown and evolved to reflect the changing tides of labour laws in North America.

We stand proudly behind our patronage as an organization dedicated to you: our Brothers and Sisters in trade – our union family.

For over a century, we have worked really hard to give our Brothers and Sisters in the painting, taping, glazing, stucco, hazmat, and other trades, a higher standard of living, no matter where they work in Ontario. We are constantly striving to build a safer workplace and to influence labour laws to create a more supportive and lucrative industry.
