Rogue Planet Books will be a company run by artists. We want to add great works to Canada's popular culture. As most new companies have to be, we are starting small and being smart. We know that good books can also be popular books. Popularity is not a matter of luck. It's a matter of understanding and being true to our human nature and being able to share our understanding of that nature with compelling stories.

Ducan Weller and Tracy Pinet are the founding members. We live in Thunder Bay , a small city in the middle of the country that is the hub of activity in Northwestern Ontario, a region larger than all of Southern Ontario. We hope to be the premier publisher in the region with the aim to sell our books across the country and one day throughout the world. Our mandate is to support talented visual artists and writers. The majority of our books will have strong visual elements where the writer is an illustrator or where a visual artist works with a writer.

We are in the business of making money for our artists. To do so means, firstly, helping our artists to create the best books they can, books that will be celebrated by Canadians and have international appeal. Secondly, we pay our artists competitive advances, and thirdly, our business model is unlike any other publishing company, where our approach is one that a typical publisher cannot take where we work with our artists in unique ways to generate public interest.
